Areas of application
Numerous clinical studies published in recent years have shown that isokinetic systems deliver objective, valid and reproducible data. They serve to analyse and document the effectiveness of functional rehabilitation as well as to assess the dynamic and static load admitted on a joint. Furthermore standardised and efficient measures for training and rehabilitation can be carried out.
Con-Trex systems are useful in the analysis and training of strength performance capacity and force requirements as well as for the improvement and optimisation of activities of daily life and leisure activities. In addition implications related to therapeutic exercises, leisure and high-performance sport can be drawn.
Three main areas are commonly described:
The main goal in rehabilitation is to ensure the quality of the therapy. CON-TREX systems can be used well in pre- and postoperative training as well as they can be used in conservative therapy. The area for treatment of patients with acute or chronic disorders does include a broad spectrum of indications.
In leisure, health and high performance sports, the systematic physiological loads of a single muscle and/or combined muscle groups is of interest, together with highly reliable and valid determination of different strength performance capacities (e.g. maximum force, rate of force developement, local muscle endurance). The CON-TREX units may in addition be used to monitor and document training progress.
The valid and reliable evaluation of measured data is important for scientific research. CON-TREX systems furthermore enable to define and carry out precisely adapted and standardized training protocols, e.g. in intervention studies. Also, the application of standardized muscular strain to derive defined load parameters (e.g. metabolic variables, biomechanic variables) is of scientific interest.
